Hilario Selected to Serve on SACS Committee


Gloria Hilario, a Palo Alto College library faculty member, has been invited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to serve on the team of the Substantive Change Committee that will visit Florida National College in Hialeah, Florida, Sept. 8-10.

The Substantive Change Committee will conduct the review using the new Principles of Accreditation, and is charged with the following responsibilities: assess the institution’s continuing compliance with the Principles following substantive change; write a brief report of its findings; and make a confidential recommendation to the Commission regarding the continuing accreditation of the institution.

Hilario has been a SACS Evaluator for more than 15 years and has previously served on Affirmation, Reaffirmation and Substantive Change Committees.

Founded in 1895, SACS and the Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI) accredits more than13,000 schools and school systems throughout the United States and overseas.
