PAC Observes El Dia de Los Muertos

Palo Alto College commemorated “El Dia de Los Muertos” with a lavish performance of music and dance performed by its students and viewed by more than 300 community members in the campus courtyard, Nov. 1.

In what has become an annual tradition over the past three years, the College celebrated and honored the memory of loved ones who passed away in an evening of remembrance entitled “Celebrando Recuerdos” that featured the history of “El Dia de Los Muertos” by Cesar Hernandez, a former PAC student, and musical performances by the PAC Jazz Ensemble; Mariachi Palomino; and Conjunto Palo Alto.

Dance performances were staged by the Contemporary Dance class; the Social Dance Club; and the Ballet Folklorico class.

A “Community Altar” coordinated by Cakky Brawley’s sculpture and ceramics classes allowed attendees to place mementos and photos of departed family members, along with candles, flowers and other decorations.
