PAC Updates

--Rosa Samelson, Associate Professor of Spanish, is serving on a committee for the Council of Public University Presidents and Chancellors (CPUPC) and Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas (ICUT). The committee investigates Critical Language Programs across the state and the nation, and researches best practices in language education. Samelson participated in a nationwide conference meeting earlier this week.

--John Aken, Interim Lead Instructor of Aviation Technology, met with the U. S. Air Force ROTC director at Medina Valley High School to finalize a private pilot ground school class PAC will offer to ROTC Honor students as part of the dual credit program during the Fall 2008 semester.

--Dr. Glen Tanck, Assistant Professor of Geology, is providing his students with an opportunity to volunteer at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists’ annual meeting currently underway in San Antonio. Each student volunteer will receive a half-day pass to the convention exhibit halls. The exhibits display many facets of geophysics and geology, including high tech computer modeling displays, 3-d modeling, and a vibroseis truck display.
